1. Types of Electromagnetic Sensors

Electromagnetic sensors are devices that convert changes in magnetic fields or magnetic induction into electrical signals. Based on their working principles and structural forms, they can be divided into two types: Hall sensors and magnetoresistive sensors.

1. Hall Sensor

Hall sensors are electromagnetic sensors made using the Hall effect. When subjected to a magnetic field perpendicular to its surface, they generate a voltage difference within a diode or integrated circuit, thus converting the magnetic field into an electrical signal output. Hall sensors have advantages such as high sensitivity, fast response speed, and high precision, and are widely used in automotive electronic systems.

2. Magnetoresistive Sensor

Magnetoresistive sensors are electromagnetic sensors made using the magnetoresistive effect. They utilize a magnetic field to change the resistance value of a magnetic-sensitive resistor and convert this change into an electrical signal output. Magnetoresistive sensors have advantages such as simple structure, low cost, and good stability, and are widely used in automotive production lines.

2. Applications of Electromagnetic Sensors in Automobiles

Electromagnetic sensors are widely used in automotive electronic systems, with examples including engines, brake systems, steering systems, and transmissions.

1. Engine

Electromagnetic sensors can be applied in the ignition system and air-fuel ratio control system of the engine. In the ignition system, Hall sensors can detect the engine's speed and crankshaft position, thereby controlling the ignition timing for smoother engine operation; in the air-fuel ratio control system, magnetoresistive sensors can detect the airflow in the intake manifold and convert it into an electrical signal output to control the fuel injection amount, thus improving fuel efficiency and driving efficiency.

2. Brake System

Electromagnetic sensors can be used in the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) of automobiles. The ABS system needs to detect changes in wheel speed to determine if wheel lock-up occurs, thereby adjusting brake pressure; Hall sensors can detect the speed and direction of the wheels, allowing for timely detection of wheel lock-up, enabling the ABS system to control brake pressure more accurately and ensure driving safety.

3. Steering System

Electromagnetic sensors can be applied in the steering system of automobiles. The steering system needs to detect parameters such as wheel angle and speed to accurately control the steering angle and force; Hall sensors can detect the position of the steering gear or arm, providing accurate steering information, allowing the steering system to control wheel direction more precisely.

4. Transmission

Electromagnetic sensors can be applied in the transmission control system of automobiles. The transmission control system needs to detect parameters such as gear position, speed, and torque in the transmission to achieve smooth shifting; magnetoresistive sensors can detect the position and rotation direction of gears in the transmission, providing accurate sensing signals to control the operation of the transmission.
